Breathtakingly beautiful with its turquoise color, the Lac de Sainte-Croix will seduce you and leave you speechless, so unique is the landscape, with the beautiful pure blue sky of Provence, its fragrant nature and its calm lulled by the sound of cicadas or birds depending on the season.

Extending over 22 km², with a length of 11 km and a width of 5 km (volume 760 millionm3), Lac de Sainte-Croix is the third largest man-made lake in France. It was created in 1973 with the commissioning of the Sainte-Croix dam, and today is an emblematic place for relaxation and leisure in Provence.

Protected by the French coastal law, it offers water of exceptional quality. You can enjoy swimming, canoeing, kayaking, pedal-boating, fishing and lazing in the shade of the oak trees. You’ll also find plenty of opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. Between cliffs, pebble beaches and wild coves, every visit is a life-size postcard.

Carved out by the Verdon River over thousands of years, the gorges stretch for almost 50 kilometers. The cliffs can reach 700 metres in height, offering a spectacle unique in France and Europe.

The Gorges du Verdon is also a succession of five reservoirs set along its green waters, highlighting this natural curiosity carved out of the limestone and forming emblematic lakes: Sainte-Croix, Quinson, Castillon and Esparron. What’s more, these unspoilt areas are ideal for a wide range of outdoor activities, from rock climbing to via ferrata, not forgetting canyoning and paragliding.
